Anthropological Forum welcomes submissions of manuscripts relating to all topics discussed within the aims and scope of the journal. Please send your manuscript as an e-mail attachment. Articles must not exceed 10,000 words including notes and bibliography. All articles are judged on merit and are reviewed anonymously by the Editorial Board and at least two external referees. If your manuscript is accepted, it is likely that some revisions will be required. Please send an electronic copy of your revised paper by e-mail, and a hard copy by post if the paper contains any italics, underlining, special symbols, tables, figures etc. Please mark these clearly. It is essential that the hard-copy version exactly matches the electronic copy, so please do not change the latter in any way after printing the former.

Style
The Style Guide will be sent to authors whose manuscripts have been accepted. It is a condition of acceptance that authors follow the Style Guide exactly.

Endnotes
Footnote text should be placed as endnotes following the end of text but prior to the References. Footnote numbers in the text should be set as superscript, after punctuation.

References
References should appear in the text (not as footnotes), following the Chicago author-date style; for example (Sahlins 1972, 231). Please note that this differs slightly from the style used in pre-2004 issues of Anthropological Forum. Do not use ibid, loc. cit., op. cit., passim.

The list of references should be arranged under References and placed at the article's end. Do not list references that do not appear in your manuscript. Examples:

Books (Monographs)

Illustrations
Maps, figures, and tables must be submitted in final form, suitable for printing. All should be submitted on separate pages, not inserted in the text, although a note may be made in the text at an appropriate place (e.g. PLEASE PLACE TABLE 1 ABOUT HERE).

Proofs will be sent to the authors by e-mail. The proofs must be corrected and returned to the Editor within three days of receipt. Major alterations to the text cannot be accepted.
